Austin Fit Magazine is searching for the fittest person in Austin.  If you missed the fun in 2012, do not miss your chance to be crowned the fittest man or women in Austin, Texas for 2013.  Take on the challenge as an individual or as a team of 4.

The AFM FITTEST is a community-wide event focused on shining a light on health and fitness for the masses while determining the ten fittest individuals in Austin. The event consists of a series of professionally designed fitness tests that measure strength, endurance, balance, speed, precision, agility, and power. The individual competition consists of ten categories based on age and sex, beginning with 19-29 and progressing by decade up to over 60 years of age for both males and females. The male and female winner of each age division will earn the title of Austin’s 10 Fittest, while the overall male and female winners will be recognized as Austin’s fittest athletes. Additionally, there will be a team competition, events for children, and an open invitational competition for Austin’s noted fitness ambassadors. The AFM FITTEST will take place Saturday, June 15, 2013 with the 10 Fittest winners featured in the August 2013 issue of Austin Fit Magazine.

The Individual Competition
This event will be split into groups of men and women by ages 19-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, & 60+. Each age group will be assigned a heat time on Saturday, beginning with the 60+ age division (start times to be announced). At the conclusion of Saturday’s event, the top ten competitors in each age group will be identified based on their composite test scores.

The Team Competition
This event will also take place Saturday, June 15. We are having 4 person teams this year. Each person on the team will do 3 of the 12 tests. One thing that hasn’t changed, however, is that Team Competition members can also participate in the Individual Competition, and team members will be able to follow along and cheer on their partners as they complete their assigned tests. The winning team will be featured in Austin Fit Magazine as well as receive prizes and bragging rights. Teams will compete against all other teams regardless of age (all members must be 18 or older) or gender. You can create a team of all men, all women, or a coed team. Remember that your team must assign each member 3 of the 12 tests, so pick your team wisely and play to your strengths.

The Invitational
This is a showcase event for a select group of past 10 Fittest winners, local area race winners, celebrities, and other notable fitness ambassadors as selected by Austin Fit Magazine. The Open Invitational event will also occur on Saturday, June 15 (schedule to be announced).

FIT KIDS ZONE is new for 2013! There will be fun fitness activities for the little ones as well as more serious competition for the older kids (details to be announced closer to registration date). Please note that last year’s 20-29 age group has been expanded to include 19-year-olds, making the range 19-29.

Awards Ceremony Look for another quality celebration from Austin Fit Magazine, where AFM will recognize and reward stand-out competitors. Results will also be announced in print and online.

There are separate registration fees to compete in the Individual and Team Competitions. The event is free to spectators (non-competitors).

What to Expect: This is an outdoor event held at Camp Mabry on the Parade Field (this is the open area easily seen from MoPac) in the summer. It will be hot, sunny, and lots of fun! Food and drinks will be available to spectators, and competitors will be provided with water and other support. While some shaded areas will be provided, please plan to dress accordingly for heat and sun.
